Scholarship interview

In order to survive in the high living cost in Kota Kinabalu, i did apply scholarship to pay my school fees and get certain monthly allowance. Since 11 Feb 2011 which is the dateline of scholarship application, none of us get any news about it until last Monday (28 Mar 2011), i received a call from Cik Zuraya from Pasca that is in charge of our scholarship application to attend an interview by 4 April 2011 (today) at 11:10am for my turn.

From that moment, i was thinking probably i got the potential to get the scholarship and i can ask my dear papa not to give me pocket money anymore. It was really nice and happy plan of mine.

However, i am well-prepared for the interview (at least i think so, hehe), and reach the  Pasca building at around 9:45am. Waiting, waiting and waiting until my turn.

Here is the description for what i faced in the interview:

YY                :  Selamat pagi. 
Prof Harun: Selamat pagi. Please take a seat. 
                       Why do u looked familiar to me? Did i meet u before?
YY               : Yes. I was previously study at SST. 

(Interview started.)
Prof Harun   : Any questions from you, Prof Awang?
Prof Awang : Ok. You berasal dari mana ya?
YY                 : Johor. 
Prof Awang : OH, saya  pun dari Johor. 
                        Siapa ketua menteri johor ya?
YY                 : Sorry, i don't know. 
Prof Awang : Ok, i thought you are from Johor and you should know that. 
                         So, what is your title of research?
YY                  : Domestic and international diversification in pre-retirement saving with portfolio rebalancing in the case of Malaysia. ( I didn't manage to tell the whole title as Prof Awang straightaway ask the next question)


Prof Awang  : So, how is your literature review? Done?
YY                  : Still in the progress.
Prof Awang : How is the progression? How many journal you read?
YY                 : Sorry, are you asking about the no. of journal?
Prof Awang : Ya, you are mathematician isn't it? Suppose you can measure it. Is it 1kg or 100g?
YY                 : HUH?  How can we measure the contents in a journal?
Prof Awang : Even if you print the journal out, you can weight it, is it?
YY                 : ... (speechless)

Lecturer with specs.: Where do you study previously?
YY                               : SST, UMS.
LWS                            : Who is the dean of SST?
YY                               : Prof Harun. 
LWS                            : Full name?
YY                               : Prof Harun Abdullah
Prof Awang               : Luckily this one you know!


I don't really remember all the details during the interview.
These are the things that really make me to memorize it and annoying.

Prof Awang even ask my friend about how she measure liquid.
If it is 1 litre, how do you ensure it is equal to 1 litre?
My friend said that we can double check it by weighing it too.
but Prof Awang said, how do you know that 1 litre is equal to 1 kg?

What the hell is this question means?
If he is asking something based on psychological or personality or even IQ then i think he is a good interviewer.
But WHAT ACTUALLY IS THIS?

HELP

I should have studying or reading journal article or analyse data or writing abstract by now...
But i have at least wasted half of my Monday.
Still feeling like sleep-walking.

Facing all the reading material and day-dreaming.

I had a busy previous week until yesterday, thought that wanted to sleep and sleep soundly until i wake up naturally (自然醒）but, so good, i wake up at 7:30am as usual. -.-!!!
Since i had not been fully charged, still day-dreaming now.

How? Can someone wake me up?

Life with no Laptop but only iPod *~*

My poor lappy was sick since Monday. After sending it into hospital, my life left with books and iPod.
Spending whole day reading as if i am so hardworking...
Luckily i found two nice books by 敷米浆，a taiwanese online writer.


The first book was finished in one day. Hope the second won't be finished too fast unless i am getting some more books.

Back to my poor laptop, it is suspected to sick in its software or hard disk.
Fortunately, it is still under warranty but
Unfortunately, i didn't back up any single file at all!!!
I got the old and suspicious hard disk back yesterday and hope that some one may help me to retrieve data from it.

Fully utilized day end with nice dinner at La Fuente

My Sunday was fully utilized and i quite happy with the things that i found.
Firstly, i spent 1/4 of my sunday in teaching piano. Spending time with student ranged from the age of 4 until 30++.

I got a hint about sales @ hush puppies previously. After having a short break after classes, i go for the sales but end up nothing from that shop. But...
I got a @pplemint T-shirt from Metrojaya for only RM10 (absolutely wrong pricing).
The shirt is actually worth for RM59.90 but after certain discount, it should be around RM20. Hehe, got a cheap present for my younger sister.

A bit sad to leave Suria with empty hand...So, i got myself a small gift,  A limited edition Palgantong Anniversary Set. Since years ago, i had told my mum i want to learn about make-up but i don't even have powder. Now i finally got mine.

Then, my Hoong Wei and I had for our first proper meal today which is a birthday celebration gathering dinner @ La Fuente, 1Borneo (my first strongly recommended restaurant @ 1Borneo)

Hoong Wei's dinner: Pasta de ajo y chile @ RM10.90

(plain ajo alio style with spaghetti)

Personally like it very much, won't feel tired or greasy without cream with a little spicy. 

My dinner: Pasta de jamon del pollo y champinones @ RM16.90

Nice cream based pasta with large portion till i cann't finish it. 

Recommended for those who has big appetite and creamy pasta lover. 

Birthday Man with his Pasta Carbonara @ RM19.90.

I cann't try it as it got beef but from their tongues (many of us tried this), it is claimed to be better than Carbonara at Little Italy with RM4 cheaper. 

Side dish we shared: Sachichas al diablo @ RM10.90

Spicy sausages served with bread. It is quite nice but i actually too full to taste it but Hoong Wei like it very much.

All i had went through in the year of 2010

Year 2010 is coming to its end but when i try to recall back, it seems like a long long period that i went through. I thought it is easy to do a summary for myself but after i did it halfway i feel so heavy and grateful to all that happened to me in 2010.

P/S: This summary takes me one whole day to complete it. Maybe it seems like short and brief, but it means a lot to me.

January
I start of my final semester with tons of assignments, FYP works.
Holiday mood still in my mind so i think i dint really focus much on it.

February
Enjoying my new year back at home.
After discussion with my parents, decided to continue study after finishing my degree.

March
Final thrust to work on FYP. It's not the best and it might not significant to anyone but it is my work.
When things is almost the end, my dear supervisor gave my a surprise;

Faint

to present my FYP in an one-day seminar in which there are 2 Japanese professors that i cannt even understand their language, almost all the lecturers from my course (ME), master students, coursemates and juniors.

April

Having my first and last course night (ME night) 

Memorable...

Having my last ever final examination in my undergraduate life.

May

The toughest things in May is to pack all my things in one day and then move all my things to my new house. 

Yes, I am moving as I am coming back to KK after my internship to continue my study life here. 

June

After enjoying a short break, i start my internship in Su Sin & Co. 

Tough and memorable

Seems like enjoyable, but...

I started to having OT works since the second day i was in Su Sin & Co. 

During the super duper peak season (June), I even worked until 10pm and full day working on Saturday and Sunday. 

Truly, I learnt a lot from u all. Thanks a lot. 

July
Finish my internship in mid of July and start enjoying...... for 2 weeks.

August
Heading back to KK with non-student status.
Starting my new life and feel boring for short while as i was disconnected to internet, merely survive with my poor little celcom broadband.
Introduced to international diversification and portfolio rebalancing.

September
During hari raya holiday, went back to have my vacation with my family @ Cameron.

October
Most significant day in year 2010: 10102010

I was graduated!!!!

November
To prevent myself to be absolute boring during spare time and to earn additional pocket money, I become a piano teacher through my supervisor's introduction.

This is the first ever music concert I was in. 

December

During this month, i has been struggling as there is too much things to shop and i have to limit myself.
Enjoying a week with my sister, go shopping and eating all around in KK.

Last week, my mood was the best as I was enrolled as Master student in UMS.
Finally, my status is clear.

Wish: 
After reviewing my life in year 2010, I must set a target for myself for the coming year. 
1. Study hard and study smart. 
Write my first ever journal article and attending   my first ever conference. (Target: Singapore)
2. Gaining experience in piano teaching. 
3. Shop smart.
Spend my hard-earned money wisely without wasting. 
4. It's time for me to try my best to please my parents and sisters more.
